# Gain Type

On this page, you select the Gain Type that you want to train on.

The Gain Type determines whether the randomly\* selected Gain amount (selected in the next step) is positive only (boosts), negative only (cuts), or randomly\* selected from the two. Boosts are easiest to hear, followed by cuts, then boosts or cuts.
